From time to time your smartphone may seem to be operating slow or sluggish.  As you uninstall/reinstall applications changes are made to the Android operating system.  This may cause a steady drain on your battery, cause your device to run slower and cause applications to crash.  When this occurs a Factory Data Reset may be the only solution.

Back up your contacts

• Go into Contacts
• Press the Menu button
• Select Import/Export (For Huawei devices select Manage Contacts/Back up Contacts to SD card)
• Select OK
• Return to home screen

Move applications you want to keep to the SD card (this only applies to applications you have downloaded from the Google Play Store, all others are restored automatically)

• Click on Settings
• Click on Applications
• Click on Manage Applications
• Click on the application you want to move
• Click on Move to SD card (if it is greyed out, it is not able to be moved)

After these steps have been done, it is a good idea to remove your SD card before performing the Factory Data Reset.

If you saved your contacts to your SD card before performing the Factory Data Reset you can restore them by using the steps below. If you are using MyBackup for your contacts, you just need to open MyBackup and it will restore the contacts through the application.

• Go into Contacts
• Press the Menu button
• Select Import/Export (For Huawei devices select Manage Contacts)
• Select Import from SD Card (for Huawei devices select Restore Contacts from SD card)
• The device will ask if you would like to restore One Vcard file, multiple or all. Select One Vcard.

• If more than one VCF file exists, select the one with the largest file number
• For example, if your choices are /sdcard/Contact/00001.vcf or /sdcard/contact/00002.vcf you should select /sdcard/contact/00002.vcf
• If your contacts don’t show up, repeat the process and select the other file
• If all else fails you may contact 1-800-CRICKET and choose option 3 for technical support.  You may also visit a full service Cricket store for hands on help.  Please use the “Store Locator” icon to find the store nearest to you.

Factory Data Reset restores your phone back to factory settings. You will lose the following:

• Text and picture message
• Photos taken with your camera
• Saved game progress
• Contacts
• Applications

You will also have to program in your Google account information after the reset takes place.     

After you have backed up your contacts and moved all the applications you want to keep to your SD card please follow the instructions below.  Please make sure you write down your Google account login so you can retrieve any unsaved contacts and applications.

• Go to Settings
• Click on Privacy
• Click on Factory Data Reset (Make sure “Erase Internal SD Card” is NOT checked)
• Click on Reset Phone

Your smartphone is very much like a mini-portable computer.  It has limited storage.  For this reason, it is good to perform spring cleaning on your Android device from time to time.  Just follow these steps below.

#1 Delete your old text messages

• Click on the Message icon
• Click on “Settings”
• Under  “Storage “Settings”” make sure the “Delete Old Messages” box
  • Set your Text and Multimedia message limit to your specifications
  • This will be automatic from now on. If there are important messages to keep you will need to lock the message to prevent deleting automatically

#2 Clear the cache from your apps and browser.  Cache files are temporary files created by your apps. They take up a lot of storage over time.  

• Click on “Settings”
• Click on “Applications”
• Click on “Storage Use”
• Click on each application
• Click on “Clear Cache” DO NOT CLICK ON CLEAR DATA

#3 Delete Apps you no longer use/need.  Have you downloaded the latest greatest game or app and find that you no longer use it?  Get rid of it!

• Click on “Settings”
• Click on “Applications”
• Click on “Manage Applications”
• Click on “All” (at the top)
• Click on the Application you want to uninstall
• Click on “Uninstall” (in the upper right)
  • Note: some applications come prepackaged with your phone and may not be able to be uninstalled

#4 Move Apps to your SD card.  All apps are not eligible to be moved to your SD card, but some are and this can save you valuable space.  To do this, just follow the instructions below.

• Click on “Settings”
• Click on “Applications”
• Click on “Manage Applications”
• Click on the application you want to move
• Click on  “Move to SD card” (if it is greyed out, it is not able to be moved)

Some things you should know before we begin…. 

• Not all songs can be made into a Ringback tone due to licensing restrictions
• Ringback tones can only be managed using your Muve enabled Cricket handset, you cannot manage Ringback tones on mycricket.com if you have a Muve rate plan
• If the option to create a Ringback tone is greyed out, it is not available as a Ringback tone

Follow the steps below to see how your Ringback tones are setup

• From the Muve Music application select “My Music”
• Select Ringback tones
• You will see  “My default list” and each individual Ringback tone
• If you don’t see anything under “My default list” then callers will hear the standard ring when calling you
• If you go into each song you can edit which contact will hear that song when they call by going into “Manage Assignees”
• To make a song your default Ringback Tone go into the individual song and select “Add to Default List”

Making the Ringtone is just the first step. Now you have to assign it to a contact, or contacts. To do that, just follow the steps below.

• Open up the Muve Music application
• Click on “My Music”
• Click on “Ringtones”
• Select the Ringtone you would like to manage
• From here you can make it your default Ringtone by clicking on the off button next to Default Ringtone, if it says “On” already, it is set as your default Ringtone already.
• If you only want to set it to certain contacts, just select “Manage Assignees”. From here you can add or remove contacts. Only contacts in the list will play the ringtone when they call you. 

All of Cricket’s smartphones have the ability to manage the on device memory and come with microSD card slots.   Most applications, pictures, videos, etc… can be moved over to the microSD card, thus freeing up memory space and allowing for more downloads.  This means that more applications can be downloaded to your smartphone, if they are stored on the microSD card.  Note: to use an application stored on the microSD card, the card needs to be inserted in the phone.

• Go to Menu
• Select Settings within the Android Menu
• Select Applications. (Each smartphone may be slightly different, so select the options for Applications, ie Apps.)
• Select Manage applications.
• Find the App you wish to move
• Select Move to SD card

Android applications store information in cache and data files.    Typically your browser, mail, Gmail, and social media applications have the largest cache.  Removing cache will remove temporary files but will not remove your application or application settings.  Clearing data is similar to uninstalling and reinstalling an application.  Please note: It will reset all of your settings as well as removing log-ins and saved information.

• Go to Menu
• Select Settings within the Android Menu
• Select Applications (Each smartphone may be slightly different, so select the options for Applications, ie Apps.)
• Select Storage Use
• Select the App you wish to remove the data or clear cache

Payments can be made using My Account on your Cricket phone anywhere, anytime and there are never any payment service fees. Simply go to My Account via the mobile web or tap on the My Account icon (looks like a money bag) on your phone's home screen and click "Pay My Bill".

Automated System
Make a payment using a check or credit card by dialing 1-800-CRICKET. This service is available 24 hours a day and subject to a $2 processing fee.

Authorized Payment Locations
Visit an Authorized Payment Location to pay a bill or unsuspend/unhotline service in 30 minutes or less (available 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific Time). Most Authorized Payment Locations only accept cash payments. Please have your Cricket phone number when you pay your bill in person. Payment subject to $3 processing fee. You may send a personal check or money order with your remit slip at the bottom of your Cricket bill to the following address:

There is no payment fee associated with this payment method. Processing of mail payments can take up to 7-10 business days before payment posts to your Cricket account. To help ensure timely payment processing, please remember to write your account number on your check or money order. If you do not have your account number available, call *611 or 1-800-CRICKET to obtain it. If payment is not received by the due date, your phone service will be suspended and you may be charged a $10 reinstatement fee if you would like to continue your service.

Mobile Data is the name of Cricket’s data service.  Put simply, Mobile Data is access to the internet over the Cricket Nationwide cellular network.  Rate plans with Mobile Data can browse the internet, use email, use Twitter, use Facebook, download applications, and generally use any applications installed on your phone or broadband device that require access to the internet.  Cricket’s smartphone and broadband (data only) rate plans include Mobile Data.

Mobile Data is typically sold with a specific amount of Full-Speed Data access (Data Allowance) and unlimited Reduced-Speed Data access.  The amount of included Full-Speed Data is noted for each rate plan in its list of features.

Data usage is generated whenever the Mobile Data service is used to transfer data between your device and the Cricket Nationwide cellular network.

Yes!  Cricket will automatically notify you via text (SMS) and email when you get near the end (low allowance) and at the end (end of allowance) of your Full-Speed Data allowance.

Low allowance notifications are sent via text (SMS) when approximately 10% of your Full-Speed Data allowance is remaining.  You will only receive one low allowance notification within a service period.  If you purchase additional Full-Speed Data after receiving your low allowance notification you will not receive another in the same service period.

IMPORTANT: Cricket can only notify you via email if you have provided us your email address.  We encourage you to provide it to us so we can ensure you are always up to date on your account status.  You can update or add your email address at My Account, 1-800-CRICKET, or Cricket stores.
