Wi-Fi is a connectivity technology. A device enabled with Wi-Fi, such as your smartphone or tablet, can connect to the Internet via a wireless network access point. An access point (or hotspot) has a range of about 65 ft. (20 meters) indoors and a greater range outdoors. Hotspot coverage can comprise an area as small as a single room with walls that block radio signals or a large area, as much as many square miles, covered by multiple overlapping access points.

You will not be charged by Cricket for Wi-Fi use. We want you to enjoy the benefits of your Wi-Fi enabled device! There are a growing number of public and private hotspots. Many are free, like homes, offices, restaurants, and merchants. However there are hotspots, and networks of hotspots, that will prompt you for payment ahead of time to use. If you encounter one of these and do not want to pay to use it, you can always disconnect from the hotspot.
Always contact the hotspot owner/provider if you have questions or problems connecting.
WeFi Pro is designed to keep you connected to the best available network at all times. To do this, the software will sometimes automatically switch on your device’s Wi-Fi radio when you return to places where you previously connected to Wi-Fi or where Wi-Fi connectivity is expected based on WeFi Pro’s knowledge of more than 100M hotspots. You can always temporarily disable Wi-Fi if you choose, although it is not recommended since WeFi will then be unable to help you maintain the best data connection.
If you like WeFi but still want to manage your Wi-Fi radio manually, you can disable WeFi’s ability to turn on your Wi-Fi radio by following these instructions:
1. Open the WeFi Pro application by selecting it in your device’s application list. Access to your application list varies by device. If you are unsure how to access your list of applications please consult your manual.
2. Press your device’s Menu button/key
3. Press Settings
4. You should see a Wi-Fi Wakeup checkbox. Press the check mark to uncheck it and disable WeFi’s ability to turn on your Wi-Fi radio.
You can return to that menu at any time to check the box and re-enable WeFi’s control of your Wi-Fi radio.
Don’t forget! With WeFi not controlling your Wi-Fi radio you will have to remember to manually turn it back on when you need it.
In the majority of cases, no. Wi-Fi usually provides a faster Internet connection and lower latency (speed to respond), resulting in a better experience for viewing data intensive content like video streaming, gaming, and web browsing; however, it is possible for Wi-Fi hotspots to be congested and provide a slower Internet connection. If this occurs, WeFi Pro will automatically move the data connection back to the Cricket cellular network.
No. All your voice calls go through Cricket’s cellular network as before. Your Internet browsing, videos and online games will use Wi-Fi when connected to a hotpot.
Not necessarily, although unfortunately there is not a simple answer to this question due to hardware differences between devices and factors such as Wi-Fi signal strength, cellular signal strength, and the activities you perform with your device. Testing by WeFi has shown negligible impact on battery consumption when the application manages Wi-Fi connections.
The phone tutorials will instruct you how to turn on and off the Wi-Fi radio on your device. Using your experience and judgment, you can determine how to get the most out of your battery life.
No, the data you upload or download through a Wi-Fi connection doesn’t count toward your data usage level or allowance that may be associated with your plan.
Cricket recommends only connecting to secure encrypted hotspots. If you decide to connect to an open network, whether you trust it or not, Cricket recommends that you do not transmit any sensitive information (i.e. usernames, passwords, credit cards, etc.) to better protect your information.
When you have your Wi-Fi radio on Android will notify you about any Wi-Fi hotspot that it can detect, even if their signal is weak or their speed is less than what you currently have on the Cricket network.
WeFi Pro improves on Android’s capabilities by only prompting you to connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot that it thinks will be a better experience. This allows you to leave Wi-Fi on all the time and accept or ignore its prompts.
WeFi Pro works automatically in the background, connecting your device to the best available network – Wi-Fi or cellular. If it identifies a Wi-Fi hotspot that will improve your data connection it will show a notification icon with a green leaf and a hand, prompting you to decide if you want to connect to a particular Wi-Fi hotspot. You can decide to ignore or connect. As WeFi learns the Wi-Fi hotspots you are comfortable connecting to it will automate connecting to them in the future if they can offer a better experience.
Some Wi-Fi hotspots require successful completion of a web based login page. WeFi will notify you if this is necessary. WeFi is not legally able to automatically bypass this on your behalf.
Some Wi-Fi hotspots are protected with encryption or device filtering. To connect to these types of networks you need to contact the hotspot owner to gain access.
Existing customers will be eligible for the $10 account credit if they meet the following requirements:

If you wish to fully enjoy the benefits of WeFi Pro, it is not recommended that you install any other connectivity application while using WeFi Pro. Multiple connectivity applications can conflict and lead to unpredictable results.
WeFi Pro should be left running in the background to ensure you get the best connectivity at all times. Should you choose to stop WeFi Pro from working for you, you can stop it using the Settings->Applications menu of the device to select and stop the application.
When WeFi Pro detects hotspots that require you to log in with the browser it will notify you of such networks, and if you select them will open the browser for you so the login page is brought up.
By tagging networks, you help WeFi Pro work better for you. You can tag networks as your Residence, Office or Public. WeFi Pro will try to prefer your Residence and Office networks over other networks.
