Double click the Kies Mini file. The program will then extract files needed for installation.
Location and language is selected by default. Verify that the selection is correct and click Next.
Read over the license agreement. Check I accept the terms of the license agreement, and then click the Next.
Kies Mini will begin installation. Note: Windows Media Runtime 11 is needed to upgrade your device. If Windows Media Runtime 11 is not detected, Kies Mini will download and install it.
Once install is complete, check Yes, I want to restart my computer now and then click Finish to restart your computer.
Note: Your PC must be connected to a live internet connection to upgrade your device using Kies Mini.
Open Kies Mini and use the USB cable to connect the mobile device to your PC. Note: An automatic update (to Kies Mini) may occur when Kies Mini is launched.
Click on Phone Upgrade.
Read over the Caution statements. Check I have read and understood the preceding information and then click the Upgrade button.
Kies Mini will contact the server and download the new firmware. Downloading time varies on network conditions. It may take several minutes.
Kies Mini will start updating the firmware on the device. Warning! Do not disconnect your mobile device from your PC or power the PC off. If interrupted your device could become inoperable. Note: Please wait until your mobile device reboots completely and the Android idle screen is displayed (shown Below) on your Samsung Indulge (SCH-R915) before removing the USB cable.
Click the Ok button to finish.
USB Debugging should be disabled on your device. To do this, press the Menu button > Settings > Applications > Development > and touch on USB debugging to remove the check mark.
At this time you can transfer the content you backed up earlier to your upgraded device. See FAQs for instruction.
Depending on the amount of data stored on the memory, this could impair Kies Mini ability to detect device if phone is set to Samsung Kies mode.
It may be necessary to remove the microSD card if one is inserted.
Disconnect the Indulge from the computer.
Power-off the Indulge, remove the SD card, then power-on the Indulge.
Attempt to connect to Kies Mini without the SD card inserted.
Should problems persist, the internal memory may need to be purged.
Backup up all desired data (using instructions provided above).
Go to Menu > Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset.
Follow the onscreen instructions and after reboot, attempt to connect to Kies Mini.
The Media Scan process could produce a loop if connected while in progress. If this occurs:
Disconnect and power cycle the Indulge.
After the Indulge fully boots and the media scan process is finished, connect to Kies Mini again.
When the Indulge goes into download mode instructed by Kies Mini, additional drivers need to be installed. A timeout may occur from the time the drivers install until Kies Mini can detect. Should this occur:
Close Kies Mini and remove the cable.
Remove the battery cover and battery, re-insert the battery, place the cover back on, and power-on the Indulge.
When the Indulge reboots, connect the data cable and open Kies Mini.
Kies Mini contains an update feature which will download the latest copy of Kies Mini. If you are experiencing problems with the connection, simply close out of Kies Mini and reopen it. At that time, it should check for updates.

The software upgrade for the Indulge is recommended, but it is not required at this time. If you choose not to perform the software upgrade on your Indulge now, you will be able to do so later if you change your mind.
Not at all! You may perform the upgrade yourself if you have a Windows 7, Vista, or XP computer. Follow the instructions to download and install the upgrade using your Windows PC here.
This update was designed to simply upgrade the operating system of the device while leaving certain types of user data intact. This user data includes pictures, videos, and contacts. Certain settings, such as wallpaper and ringtone assignments, may be reset back to factory default. To be safe, it is best practice to always back up all data and assume that everything will be lost.
Below you will find options to backup contacts, messages and help to reinstall third party applications.
Note: When you sync to your Google Gmail and Exchange Mail accounts, you are backing up your information. Google Gmail and Exchange Mail information on your device including contacts are stored remotely on the Google and Microsoft Exchange server.
Any installed applications downloaded from the Android market may need to be re-installed.
Reinstall Paid Applications
From the Home screen, touch Applications > Market > Menu > My Apps.
If prompted, sign in with your Google account information.
Paid applications will populate in the list shown.
Reinstall Free Applications Visit https://market.android.com/ and log-in with your Google account information. All previously downloaded applications are listed in My Library.
You may also search in the Android Market app, and reinstall from there.
