Huawei Ascend II M865 Upgrade
The Huawei Ascend II software upgrade will be available mid November 2011.
To help insure a successful upgrade of your Huawei Ascend II (M865) software, you should take the following steps:
Visit your local Cricket store to receive your free Muve Music SD card.
The software upgrade for the Huawei Ascend II is recommended, but it is not required at this time. If you choose not to perform the software upgrade on your Huawei Ascend II now, you will be able to do so later if you change your mind.
The icons on the home screen will update and change configuration. You may also verify the new version under the device settings menu. Go to Menu > Settings > About Phone > Android Version 2.3.5.
The Huawei Ascend II Software Upgrade is a process that will allow you to upgrade the software on your Huawei Ascend II (M865) handset to the most current software that is available. The upgrade is available mid November 2011.
Upgrading the software on your Huawei Ascend II will enable your handset for Muve Music, Cricket’s Unlimited Music product. With Muve Music, Cricket is the first U.S. wireless carrier to offer consumers unlimited music (full track downloads, ringtones and ringback tones) as part of a new wireless rate plan. If your Huawei Ascend II already has the Muve Music Icon in the Applications menu, or on your home screen, then you already have the most current version of software. If you are still unsure if you need to upgrade your software you can check out your current software version on your handset: go to: Menu>Settings>About Phone if your current version is Android Version 2.3.5 you have the most current software version.

To upgrade the software on your Huawei Ascend II handset you will need to visit a participating Cricket store. Upgrades are available at Cricket Corporate Owned Stores and Exclusive Cricket Dealers only.

Yes, it is recommended and encouraged to back-up the data on your handset prior to upgrading your software. To back-up the data on your Huawei Ascend II handset you must have a Muve Music SD card installed in your phone. Once you have an SD card installed go to the All Backup application in your Application menu. Select the All Backup icon, click the Backup to SD icon, select/deselect your desired items, and click Backup.
Once you have upgraded the software on your Huawei Ascend II, return to the All Backup application, click Restore from SD, select the desired file, select/deselect your desired items, click Restore, select to either Overwrite the existing records or Add to existing records, and click Start restore. You will need to restart your phone before the restored data is available.
Using the All Backup application will allow you to back up the following items:
- Phone Contacts
- Text Messages
- Call Logs
- System Settings
- Email Accounts
This is not supported in the Cricket store. You can do this before or after your upgrade.
For backing up Photos/Videos: Plug a USB cable to your computer connected to your device. USB Mass Storage screen will appear, turn on USB Storage, go to My Computer, find Removable Disk, find DCIM, and drag pictures/videos to your computer.
Yes, it is recommend and encouraged that you have a fully charged battery before you begin the software upgrade process on your Huawei Ascend II handset. You can also plug your phone into your charger while completing the software upgrade on your Huawei Ascend II (M865) handset.
