- Eligibility: The Man v. Map (the “Contest”) is open to legal residents of the United States (excluding residents of any jurisdiction where participation may be prohibited or restricted by law) who are at least eighteen (18) years of age (or, in the case of residents of Alabama or Nebraska, nineteen (19) year of age, and in the case of Mississippi twenty one (21) years of age) as of April 12, 2010. Void where restricted or prohibited by law. All applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.
Markets participating in this contest are: Houston, Salt Lake City, Denver, San Diego, and Phoenix.
- How to Play:
To play, users replicate a color pattern flashed across the map via a cluster of light-up states. After successfully repeating the pattern, the states in the completed color sequence will lock, moving you into the next level of play with a new cluster of states. This continues until all 50 states are locked. Each level gets increasingly difficult with longer and faster color sequences. The objective of the game is to lock all 50 states in the shortest amount of time. Please see detailed instructions below.
- Tap the “touch here” animation onscreen to begin
- A sequence of color-coded states will light up. Remember the color order of these states, and replicate the pattern on the 5-color control panel. You will earn points based on level completion and a time bonus for how quickly you master each level.
- After completing a level, these states will lock. The next level will continue in another cluster of states.
- If you can lock off all 50 states, passing every level, you’ve won the battle of Man vs. Map!
- If you incorrectly replicate a sequence, or move too slowly, the game will end. Try again to earn your chance to win!
- No matter how you did, enter your name to potentially earn a spot on the “Top Scores” list and type in your phone number to be contacted if you’ve won a $200 airline gift card.
- The prize will be awarded to the highest scorer after May 10, 2010, the contest end date.
Scoring of Game:
Levels
There are ten levels to the Man vs. Map game. With each level, the number of colors in the sequence and the speed at which the sequence flashes increases.
- Level 1 – 5 color sequence (slowest speed)
- Level 2 – 6 color sequence
- Level 3 – 7 color sequence
- Level 4 – 8 color sequence
- Level 5 – 9 color sequence
- Level 6 – 11 color sequence
- Level 7 – 13 color sequence
- Level 8 – 15 color sequence
- Level 9 – 17 color sequence
- Level 10 – 20 color sequence (fastest speed)
Scoring system

- Time bonus = ((Number of color call outs in that level * 1000mms ) - Player's response time in mms) * 0.1
- Total score = Base score + Time bonus
