can i ensure that a route is traversable by truck?

Yes.  From the main Cricket Navigator screen, select Menu (Left Soft Key) and then Preferences.  Select Navigation Preferences, then Trip Settings, then Vehicle Type.  Use the Track Ball to select Truck and press OK to save the setting.
