can i change the sort of audio prompts used during navigation?

Yes.  From the main Cricket Navigator screen, select Menu (Left Soft Key), and then Preferences.  Select Navigation Preferences, then Navigator Audio.  Use the Track Ball to select the sort of prompts you want to use, and press OK to save the setting.
