Austin, TX – July 31, 2006 – Cricket® wireless service will be available to the Greater Austin market on August 1, 2006, but before its service even begins, the company is celebrating its entry into the Central Texas area with a FREE Gas promotion.

The first 96 cars to arrive at three soon-to-be announced locations will fill up their gas tanks with up to 15 gallons of FREE gasoline from Cricket Wireless.  Gas promotion dates are Saturday, July 29; Monday, July 31; and Wednesday, August 2.

Additionally, Cricket will celebrate its launch with a FREE Cricket Concert in Waterloo Park on Sunday, August 6, from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. (park opens at 3 p.m.).  The concert will include Grammy-nominated, Austin-based rockers Fastball, Beto y los Fairlanes, Kevin McKinney from Soul Hat, Alteza, and The Steps.  The first 1,000 concert attendees will receive a free, personal-sized Cricket fan.  Food and drink vendors will be selling items on site.  No alcohol will be sold or be allowed into Waterloo Park.  No glass containers, coolers or pets, please.

Cricket is also blanketing Central Texas with its FREE Cricket T-shirts.  If the Cricket Street Team spots anyone wearing a Cricket shirt, then that individual will be given a FREE Motorola® Razr phone and one year free Cricket’s Unlimited Access service.
