Donation of Computers and High Speed Wireless Internet Service to Twenty-Five Savannah Families Made Possible By Help of Entire Community
SAVANNAH – December 17, 2008 – Twenty-five families are getting connected to the universe thanks to donations by the general public, All Walks of Life, Inc. (AWOL), the city of Savannah, the Savannah Development and Renewal Authority, the Chatham County Commission and Cricket Communications, Inc, a leading provider of unlimited wireless services. AWOL and their “Goon Squad” refurbished the 25 computers that were donated by the public, and Cricket has provided 25 high-speed USB modems, each with six months of free Cricket Broadband Internet service as part of the “Big Give” to help families in the community.
Todd Brown, Cricket District Director said, “We’re proud to be a part of this great community event. The Internet can open doors to a whole new world and help all of us stay connected. The community has really come together and we hope they’ll come out and celebrate with us.”
The public can help celebrate by attending the AWOL Open House tonight, December 18th, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at 6 Oglethorpe Professional Blvd, or the Abeni Cultural Arts Group’s 2nd Annual Christmas Show benefiting the Savannah Innter city Night Shelter tomorrow night, December 19th, at 7 p.m. at St. Pius X Family Resource Center. AWOL is asking for continued support by asking the public to bring donations of unwrapped toys or children’s clothing.
