Cricket Teams with Oregon Food Bank for the Holidays

PORTLAND – December 5, 2006 – Cricket LCW (“Cricket”), which will launch Portland’s first unlimited wireless service on December 12, is partnering with the Oregon Food Bank this holiday season, starting with Cricket’s downtown launch party on Monday, December 11. For each person who attends the free event, Cricket will make a donation to the Oregon Food Bank (OFB). In addition, representatives from OFB will be on hand to accept food and monetary donations.

Cricket’s launch event and OFB benefit, which takes place in Pioneer Courthouse Square on December 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., will feature renowned escape artist Thomas Solomon, who will attempt to free himself from a straightjacket while suspended upside down from a crane; a performance by Portland’s March Fourth marching band; free hot dogs from Good Dog/Bad Dog; free donuts from Voodoo Donuts; and free Starbucks coffee.
“We welcome Cricket and its generous community spirit to the Portland-metro area,” said Rachel Bristol, CEO of Oregon Food Bank. “We invite Portlanders to join us at Pioneer Square for a fun and innovative party to launch this new business and to help OFB fight hunger throughout Oregon and Clark County.”

Anyone downtown mid-day on December 11 is invited to attend the free event and help increase Cricket’s total gift to OFB simply by enjoying the festivities. Cricket will present its check to OFB on Friday, December 22 at Cricket’s Clackamas store, located at 11400 SE 82nd Avenue.
