Cricket Supports Local Charities with Labor Day Step Show Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. – September 1, 2007 – Today, Cricket Communications, Inc., a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, will host the first annual “Labor Day Classic Step Show Step-off” to benefit charities represented by the participating step teams’ fraternities and sororities. The event is sponsored in part by McDonald’s and will be held at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh.

“Cricket is thrilled to get involved with the local universities and help them provide to their respective philanthropic interests,” said Hank Taylor, district director for Cricket in Raleigh-Durham. “The step show will serve as a time for Greek chapters from the local universities to get together and start the school year with a great celebration.”

The step show will be the first of its kind to incorporate involvement from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) throughout the Triangle. Participating schools include North Carolina Central University, Shaw University, St. Augustine’s College, and Duke University.

Through donations from Cricket and McDonald’s, each step team will receive $600 for their participation. Half of the donation will be allocated for each step team’s individual charity.

Tickets can be purchased at the Progress Energy Center for Performing Arts or www.ticketmaster.com. For more information about the step show or Cricket, please visit www.mycricketnc.com.
