Cricket Ringtones Showcase Nashville Musicians
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sept. 19, 2008 – Cricket Communications Inc, a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, is offering local unsigned artists the chance to hear their music pour out of thousands of cell phones across the United States.
In 2007, Cricket launched three “Cricket Music Showcase” myspace websites that feature original songs performed by Cricket customers and friends of customers in Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga. In September 2008, Cricket began offering excerpts of selected songs from these sites as free ringtones for Cricket customers.
The first free ringtones featured by Cricket are:

• “Come Home” by Sound Method
• “Music City” by Mac
• “Say it Out” by Shirock
“We launched the showcases as a way to give talented local artists some exposure,” said Jane Hutson, Cricket area general manager. “Now that we’ve heard some of these great songs, we want to take that a step further and give these artists a way to showcase their work on Cricket phones.”
Cricket customers can hear available ringtones at the Nashville Music Showcase page, [www.myspace.com/cricketnashvillemusicshowcase] before downloading them for free. Ringtones are downloaded through Cricket’s WAP storefront, which is accessed with a Cricket phone. The free ringtones are available in a directory called “Cricket New Artist Showcase” in the “Tones” section of Cricket’s WAP storefront. Every month, Cricket will offer new ringtones developed from the featured songs selected by local musicians, publicists and Cricket representatives. Cricket encourages musicians from all genres to submit their best work. Cricket’s Music Showcase also presents the “Roadie Award” each month to an artist or group that is touring.
