Cricket Issues Call to Dog Lovers: Connect at Unique Event in Yellow Springs this Weekend
DAYTON, OH -- August 20, 2007 --- Cricket Communications, Inc, a leading a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, is pleased to sponsor Dogopolis, a fundraiser benefiting three local no-kill dog welfare groups. The event will take place at Peach’s Grill in Yellow Springs on Sunday, August 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The event will feature entertainment for dogs and the people they love:
Doggy Play Date
With a $5 donation, dogs can play and be pampered in a play area with tents, kiddie pools, treats and toys. Referees and behavior consultations will be available. A human companion at least 18 years of age and a signed waiver is required.
Information Exchange
Booths with information about dog-related services will be located in the front parking area. This is a FREE forum to learn more about businesses who offer pro-dog services to pets and their companions.
Two Stages of Open Mic
Inside Peach’s Grill, there will be an open mic stage and acoustics, and weather permitting, an outdoor stage is also planned.
“With Dogopolis, I hope to create a network of like-minded people who are all working to support the welfare of dogs,” said Lynn Hailey, general manager of Peach’s Grill and host of the event. “There are so many individuals and organizations in Yellow Springs and the surrounding areas who are dedicated to taking in dogs at risk and finding homes for them. My goal is to bring them all together at this event to share ideas and connect with each other.”
The three no-kill, nonprofit dog welfare groups benefiting from the event are One More Chance Rescue, Willowdale (Animal Welfare League of Clark County), and Dogs Deserve Better. All three are also accepting monetary donations. There are Dogopolis donation boxes at several area establishments, including Cricket stores located in the University Shoppes in Fairborn, and Park Shopping Center in Springfield, as well as Cricket’s administrative office in Washington Township. A Dogopolis donation account has also been set up at U.S. Bank, to which anyone can donate.
Cricket’s involvement in Dogopolis is through its Cricket Cares program. Cricket Cares is an expression of Cricket’s commitment to giving back to the communities in which it operates. Through the Cricket Cares program, Cricket is helping local charities and nonprofit organizations achieve their goals.
“Cricket employees are empowered to make decisions about getting involved in local charitable, educational and wellness-oriented activities,” said Garth Brandwein, area general manager for Cricket. “We feel strongly about our corporate responsibility to make a difference in our community.”
Cricket welcomes inquiries from charities and other organizations regarding the possibility of a Cricket Cares partnership.
