Cricket Honors Memory of Las Vegas “Wish Kid” by Showcasing Artwork
LAS VEGAS – August 1, 2008 – Cricket Communications, Inc, a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, has partnered with Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada to fulfill the wish of an angel named Rodnika.
Earlier this year Cricket met with the Make-A-Wish Foundation in hopes of putting a smile on a child’s face by fulfilling a wish. A unique idea arose to feature a child’s artwork on a cell phone decal, and Rodnika was selected as the “wish kid.” In addition to making her artwork available publicly, her wish was to culminate with a trip to Walt Disney World with her family. Sadly, Rodnika unexpectedly passed away before her wish could be fulfilled.
“We were devastated when we heard the news about Rodnika,” said Jason Biado, area general manager for Cricket. “She was so excited to see her drawing made into a decal, and Cricket, along with her family, would like to honor Rodnika’s memory by showcasing her artwork.”
“We are touched by the way Rodnika’s family and Cricket have handled this difficult situation,” said Emily Williams, development associate for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada. “Honoring Rodnika by distributing her drawing is a fitting tribute to her.”
The cell phone decals designed by Rodnika can be purchased for $1 at the following Cricket retail stores, all proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada.
