Cricket Hits the Street in Search of New Cricket Spokespersons, Who Has What It Takes to Be The New Face and Voice of Cricket?
PITTSBURGH -- Cricket Communications, Inc., a leading provider of unlimited local and long distance wireless services, is looking for a face that could launch a thousand minutes. It's all part of the company's first-ever nation-wide casting call to find the New Face and Voice of Cricket.
This national search gets started with a party in Pittsburgh's own backyard - The Mall at Robinson. On Saturday, February 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. the Banana Republic Rotunda will be the place to go to hear Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, meet Survivor winner Jenna Morasca, mingle with FOX-TV's Alby Oxenreiter and hang out with WDVE-FM's Scott Paulsen.
In addition, a professional casting director will be on site to interview Cricket® customers interested in taking center stage in the company's new ad campaign set to kick-off in March.
"Our Pittsburgh customers are extremely loyal and good sports," said Sam Sarnicke, Pittsburgh area general manager. "Now that the Steelers won't be making the trip to the Super Bowl, we figured people would be looking for something fun and exciting to do that weekend."
"Ever since our initial launch nearly four years ago, we've done things differently at Cricket," said Sarnicke. "We feel it's important that our advertising reflects our customer base and showcasing our customers in our ads will reflect the large cross-section of the population we serve. Plus, we are giving our customers the opportunity to become their own local celebrity, and who knows - maybe one of them will get their big break!"
The Casting Call - How Do You Use Your Cricket?
Open to all Cricket® customers, the casting calls will include an interview process during which candidates will be asked by a professional casting director about how they use their Cricket® phone service, including who they call, what they might talk about and more. Designed to evoke a fun and customer-friendly environment, the casting calls will allow customers to show their individual personalities when talking about how they use Cricket.
"With these local casting calls we are looking for customers who have fun and lively personalities and interesting stories to tell about their use of Cricket," said Sarnicke. "We're interested in how they use their phone and why they choose Cricket over other phone services. We know by talking with our customers over the years that they are a really great group of people. Now we want others to know that too."
The first casting call will be held in Pittsburgh on Feb. 5, 2005. Here are the details:
Candidates must be a Pittsburgh Cricket customer either on or before the date of the casting call
Candidates should arrive at The Mall at Robinson's Banana Republic Rotunda with their Cricket phones
A casting director will be talking to people one-on-one and pulling those aside who have great personalities and stories to tell for an initial interview
Those who are chosen to be finalists will receive talent fees, a Kyocera Koi and free Cricket phone service for a year
Cricket will provide Villa Pizza and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and plenty of entertainment (Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, Jenna Morasca, Alby Oxenreiter and Scott Paulsen)
