Cricket Communications Presents First Annual Rescue Dog-A-Rama
DAYTON ― November, 7 2008 ― Cricket Communications, Inc., a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, is pleased to sponsor the first annual Rescue Dog-A-Rama, an event taking place November 15-16, 2008 at Hara Arena in Dayton. The event runs from 9am – 5pm Saturday and from 10am – 5pm on Sunday. Featuring nearly 10 dog and puppy rescue organizations, many pet supply vendors such as See Spot Run, and a dog house decorating contest, this special event will benefit One More Chance Rescue & Adoption, as well as the Children’s Medical Center of Dayton.
Rescue Dog-A-Rama is the perfect opportunity for prospective owners to find a furry new member to add to their family or to just browse among the many vendors who will be on hand. Of the 8 rescue organizations on hand, at least 5 are breed-specific, including Pugs, Japanese Chins, Corgis, Chihuahuas, Chinese Crested’s, and Greyhounds. In addition, pet supply vendors will have many dog supplies available at unbelievable discounted prices, along with lots of free samples. In addition to See Spot Run, vendors include the Care Center of Dayton, Dogtor’s Pet Therapy, Dogs Deserve Better, a pet behavior therapist, and Moochie & Co. Plus, everyone who attends receives a free treat bag for themselves and their favorite furry friend.
Additional activities during the event include a dog house building contest, where dog houses will be painted and decorated by the ambassador children from Dayton Children’s. On Sunday, the dog houses will be auctioned off, with half of the proceeds benefiting the hospital and the other half benefiting the Senior Dog Center at One More Chance. Adding to the festivities, Full Circle, an acoustic band, will play on Saturday and a DJ will be on hand all day Sunday.
One More Chance has a mission of “no dog left behind” in the hopes of adopting out all available animals at the event. This no-kill shelter seeks to not only rescue dogs and place them in suitable homes, but also to educate the public about pet ownership. The shelter sees many animals that have been given up for a variety of reasons, including lack of pet education, impulse purchases, and unexpected financial burdens. One More Chance also stresses the importance of spaying and neutering pets, as overpopulation is a leading reason for the euthanization of many dogs.
Rescue Dog-A-Rama is made possible by the Cricket Cares Program, an expression of Cricket’s commitment to giving back to the communities in which is operates. Cricket is proud to assist employees endeavors with non-profit organizations and local charities to achieve their goals. Admission to Rescue Dog-A-Rama is just $5 for adults and free for children under 12. Well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome. Additionally, vendor space is still available, and inquiries can be made by calling 937-216-3647 or email rescuedogarama@aol.com.
