Cricket Boise Distributes Free Chile ID Kits and AMBER Alert Materials Aug. 31ST at Julia Davis Park
Boise, ID – August 21, 2006 – By distributing FREE Child ID Kits and information about its wireless AMBER Alert partnership, Cricket Communications, Inc., a leading provider of unlimited wireless service in the Boise area, is showing its appreciation for the support and encouragement it has received since it first launched in the community on Aug. 30, 2001. On Friday, Aug, 31, 2006, Cricket will be at Julia Davis Park, located along the Boise River just south of downtown Boise, providing parents and guardians with the free Cricket Child ID kits as well as details on the national wireless AMBER ALERT text messaging program.
In addition, Cricket will host a community celebration to acknowledge its five year anniversary in Boise with activities for the entire family. The night’s FREE festivities include hot dogs and refreshments, music, a dunk tank, moon bounce house and face painting for the kids, as well as the announcement the winner of Cricket’s summer scooter giveaway. That night Cricket will also treat kids from the Boys and Girls Club to tickets to Boise State University Bronco’s first home game of the season against Sacramento.
The Child ID kits provide one location and ease of access for the essential documentation required to track missing children including dental records, physical description and photograph, medical history, personal information and fingerprints.
Cricket, working in conjunction with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA), will provide details to wireless subscribers on how to sign up for the national wireless AMBER Alert program. Wireless phone users can receive a text message alert, once distributed by law enforcement personnel, directly to their mobile phone once the phone has been added to the registry. The text message will notifying subscribers if a child is missing in the area. To join the program, logon to www.wirelessamberalerts.org. Wireless subscribers can sign up to receive alerts within five different zip codes.
“We are so grateful for the encouragement and support we have received over the last five years from the entire Boise community,” said Jeff Brannan, district director for Cricket in Boise. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to give something back to the community that has allowed us to grow so tremendously over the last five years and really become a part of this thriving region.”
In distributing the Child ID kits, Cricket hopes to educate parents about the need for safety, especially as children prepare to go back to school this fall. Added Brannan, “It’s so important to be aware of the dangers that exist, especially when it comes to our children. By providing the Child ID kits and details on the AMBER Alert program, it’s our way of giving back to the community.”
