Competition to Crown Cricket Idol Heating Up
BUFFALO – July 9, 2008 – Cricket Communications, Inc, a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, is looking for Buffalo’s best voices to name the Cricket Idol. One lucky winner will have a shot a their big break, with roundtrip airfare for two to an American Idol audition location, a two night hotel stay, $500 spending money, the opportunity to sing the national anthem at the Buffalo Bisons Baseball game on August 18, a solo performance at the Molson Canal Concert Series on August 22, and a Kyocera Lingo phone and 6 months of Cricket service!
Cricket has already auditioned singers, and has narrowed the field down to 11 finalists who will take the stage on July 11 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Molson Canal Concert Series in Lockport, NY. The finalists will each perform for the crowd, and six singers will be eliminated based on scores provided by a panel of three judges, including Donny Walker from Z101 FM, a band member from an opening act in the concert series, and a Cricket representative.
The five remaining competitors will return on July 25 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. for the final competition for the title of Cricket Idol. The second place performer will receive a Kyocera Lingo phone and 3 free months of Cricket service. Third place will receive an iPod Nano.
