Albuquerque Becomes City-Wide Internet Hot Spot Today!
ALBUQUERQUE – September 17, 2007 – Cricket Communications, Inc, a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, is pleased to announce the launch of Cricket Wireless Internet Service in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area. Albuquerque/Santa Fe residents will be able to access the internet from their laptops anywhere in town, essentially turning all of Albuquerque and Santa Fe into an internet “hot spot.” The monthly service plan is just $30 per month and there are no signed contracts.
As part of the introduction of Cricket Wireless Internet Service, Cricket will provide Central New Mexico United Way with free wireless internet service for 14 laptops. The laptops are used by United Way representatives to educate the public about “the gift of giving” to United Way. The internet is an important part of their presentations.
Terri Scruggs, IT Director for United Way commented, “We were so excited to learn of this solution to use laptops on the internet from anywhere around town. In the past, we had to look for WiFi and hot spots. Now, we’ll be our own hot spot!”
“Cricket is delighted to launch this great new service and to help Albuquerque/Santa Fe residents and the United Way become their own hot spot,” said Regan Anderson, interim district director for Cricket in Albuquerque. “Cricket is about simplicity and freedom, and we can’t wait to help people get connected anywhere in town.”
Cricket will introduce Cricket Wireless Internet Service to Albuquerque/Santa Fe by hosting “internet cafes” in parks and parking lots, highlighting that Cricket customers can access the internet anywhere they go. Additionally, Cricket will conduct free demonstrations of the new service at Cricket stores and at events with the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and the Hispano Chamber of Commerce. The demonstrations with the Chambers are free and open to the public, and food will be provided. Attendees have the possibility of winning a FREE Cricket Wireless Internet Service card, as well as many other door prizes and giveaways.
