San Diego Rebuilds Azalea Park

In early October, a team of over 250 Cricket Communications employees, local business partners, community organizations and professional volunteers took on a momentous renovation project for Azalea Park in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego. All of the organizations involved share the same goal - to inspire and encourage the City Heights community to reduce water usage, recycle and thrive.

Built in 1972, Azalea Park got a much-needed facelift thanks to Cricket and Rebuilding Together who installed a water conservation garden with drought resistant plants on the park premises. The two volunteer teams also upgraded overall conditions for the appearance and sustainability of the park so that families will be able to enjoy the site for decades to come.

At the end of the day, the teams installed:

  • 62 tons of decomposed granite
  • 57 tons of rock base
  • 60 tons of boulders, rocks and stones
  • 65 tons of soil

Big thanks to everyone in the San Diego community who took part in the success of this project!
