A team of employees from Cricket Communications, Inc. through their involvement in Rebuilding Together Albuquerque, made some much needed landscaping improvements to the YWCA’s Transitional Living Center (TLC House) for Homeless Women Veterans on October 26-28, 2010.
The TLC House got a facelift thanks to the Cricket team of volunteers, who cleared existing weeds and other debris in order to prepare the site for new landscaping in the spring which will include fruit trees, raised organic garden beds, and drought resistant plants.
“The generous donation by Cricket volunteers is invaluable to us,” remarked Carolyn Margolies, President & CEO of the YWCA Middle Rio Grande. “As a non-profit organization, every penny that we save by having volunteers perform much needed work, can go to our programs and services to serve those in need. In this case, this is an important phase in the overall improvement of the landscaping which will help create a calm, relaxing and restorative retreat for the women veterans and their children during their stay at TLC.
For the second year in a row, Cricket was one of the top sponsors of Rebuilding Together, a leading, national, non-profit organization dedicated to bringing volunteers and communities together to revitalize communities across the country. Cricket’s main goal with Rebuilding Together is to rehabilitate and revitalize homes, schools or community centers for residents living in the communities in which the company operates.
